Learn the 2 ways of holding a guitar: classical and casual.
Learn tips that will help you have the best form for
playing guitar.
CASUAL
STYLE TIPS
Above all, RELAX and don't think too much about sitting
or you will defeat the purpose but try to incorporate these
into your practice. In the long run you will be very glad
you did.
Good form
Level and relaxed shoulders
Relaxed back, not twisted in any way.
Head of the guitar about the level of your head.
Sitting relatively straight up, not hunching over the
guitar.
For even a more descriptive explanation of good and bad
form see the self study section's "Sitting
Position."
BUT ... don't obsess over it, just if you notice that you
are playing uncomfortably, maybe the way you are sitting
is a possible reason.
CLASSICAL STYLE TIPS
Again, RELAX and don't think too much about sitting or
you will defeat the purpose but try to incorporate these
into your practice. In the long run you will be very glad
you did.
Good form

Relaxed back, not twisted in any way.
Head of the guitar about the level of your head.
Sitting relatively straight up, not hunching over the
guitar.
Upper bout of the guitar resting on your left thigh.
(or right depending on what hand you play with)
Your left foot should be elevated (not evident in picture
but a foot stool is there) You can buy one of these at
any guitar store.
For even a more descriptive explanation of good and bad
form see the self study section's "Sitting
Position."
BUT AGAIN... don't obsess over it, just if you notice that
you are playing uncomfortably, maybe the way you are sitting
is a possible reason.

apply as the sitting positions.
