Guitar Study: DCG, making it not so typical

In this study we’re going to change the old standby, DCG, to not sound so much like what you hear on songs all day long on the radio. We’ll use hammer ons and pull offs to do this. Now this exercises is only a few measures long, but practice it and expand upon it. It’s geared towards the intermediate to advanced player but once you get the fingering right it’s fairly simple to play.

All of the fingers shown above the TAB are for the left hand. You’ll notice that almost throughout the entire exercise the ring finger (a) is planted on the 2nd string / 3rd fret. The index finger (i) and the pinky (x) hammer on and pull off around it. If you little later we’ll get into some right hand exercises so that you can play stuff like this no problem, if you keep practicing that is. But first we need to get that left hand stretched out. We’ll do that next. The next lesson will help get our finger dexterous so we can stretch the fingerboard. See you next lesson!Sorry if the fingering is a little hard to see.
