Techniques for Guitar
"The most perfect technique is that which is not noticed at all."
~Pablo Casals
Importance of guitar technique
Guitar technique is one area where you develop your own unique style. And hopefully when you take guitar lessons, your instructor doesn't just give you songs to learn and send you on your way.
A good guitar lesson will give you a guitar technique and then show you how to apply it.
You will spend a lifetime learning guitar techniques and perfecting them. There are so many of them, for electric and acoustic guitar.
Guitar technique topics
- Guitar warm up techniques
- In this section, I'll talk about guitar techniques that you can use on and off the fretboard. You can use my warm up tabs, warm up strategies, even relaxation techniques to use while playing guitar. Believe it or not, that's a very useful technique to have when practicing and playing guitar.
- Learn to sit with the guitar
- Did you know that sitting with the guitar is actually a technique? Or at least there are things that you can do to make your sitting position with the guitar help you play better? You'll learn how to sit the "casual" way or the "classical" way, whichever suits you best.
- Left hand guitar technique
- There are a lot of techniques you can learn with your left hand on the guitar. In this section, I'll show you how to slur, using hammer ons, pull offs, and combinations of the two. You'll learn how to bend strings, slide, and even how to position your hand on the fretboard to play your best.
- Right hand guitar technique
- Right hand technique is just as important as left hand technique when you play guitar. Even though we tend to focus on the left. Check out my right hand guitar lessons on arpeggio techniques, tapping, and more.
